"free association"

I was watching a documentary on the oceans today....about cold water coral mountains the size of skyscrapers and the shape of the continents as they've changed during their moving all over the surface of the earth. It gave me another idea in support of my predisposition to our subjectivity to this earth's power.

What crossed my imagination is relevant to the speculative age of our little spacehome and the realization of science..........how susceptible we are to the whims of nature. I do not believe in physical 'shangrilas'....nor....heavens. If we've gone beyond the "failsafes" with our quest for longevity and dominion over nature.....then we are suffering the wrath of climate change as a sort of "evidence" to our fear fallacy. Maybe........what we are witness to now....is simply......that man is never able to assert dominion over nature......but must try in every existence....and the fact.........is part of the "glory of creation". Maybe......we humans......arise from our chemical equations......to our zenith.....by simple recognition and subsequent collective recognition......that we are nothing but endless energy........able to divide and manifest into an endless array of smaller variations on the greater theme..........no more...but no less as well.

Maybe the spaces of certitude........when we come to the awareness of how insignificant we are in nature.......are the purest forms of consciousness we can ever experience. If mankind rises through and from chemical equations to self-awareness capability.......then self-awareness need not require some protective manner to ensure self.....for true self-awareness would fill that idea completely in the understanding of a design which expands & contracts on an infinite table......and all other ideas would still be asking special favor from a 'godlike' image....a guarantee from personal need.

I've considered the "man vs. nature" question extensively since the first day of my son's diagnosis with kidney disease. The notion that his personal preservation/longevity are reliant on man-made devices (ie., medication, dialysis, transplant) unhinged me after I'd spent all of my years before him living as closely to nature as possible. Jake is only one individual and I am his parent, instinctively compelled to see to his survival. For those reasons (and from a legal perspective), I had to dismiss my own ideals. Talk about conflict!

We are challenged throughout this life to balance our own selfish needs/wants as humans with the demands of the natural life cycle. My own strategy of justification is to continue to live as closely and unselfishly as possible so that Mother Earth and whatever divinity lives beyond her will be merciful toward my plight. We are all fighting for survival--physically and spiritually.

Peace and blessings,
Ananji

Youre right though...as much as humans in general like to believe that we are in control of everything, we just arent.
if one natural disaster were to happen in the right area, or at the right time...it could probably end us...
Like what if the sun was blacked out, by like...ash or something, on a world scale...or specifically in the growing regions. How would we all find food ( imagine the CEO of some huge company hunting for survival :) It is things like that, when we really think about it, that just show us how powerful nature is, how insignificant we are, and how much out of sync whith the natural world humans are.
Do you ever see the flocks at grocery stores when theres a thunderstorm...OMG I NEED BREAD AND WATER!!!!...cause that will save you...from the thunder...idiots.
humans...lol...pretending as if I dont belong in the group...

Allow me to say how much I can appreciate both your answers. In consideration of our 'plight', Chris...and to put it simply, Emmy......I well remember what someone once said, "Mother nature does not care whether we live or die." because if 'consciousness'...per se.... exists.....we are all equal and her 'care' is on a far greater scale than our own.

I like the post; the idea that nature has its own agenda, in spite of us being a part of it...and so perhaps ultimately the true loving cosmic mother is ever our home - after all is said and done anyhow.

Ananji,
Donno about the power of 'prayer' (spottedwolf does). You can add my heart to yours, if love has any healing...ya, I'll pray for Jake. (and other Jakes; for I believe no matter what happens, the time will come when all will be well; when tears of sorrow and pain are wiped from our eyes; and smiles return to our hearts; and the light will dance once more from our eyes.)

STG :o)
I come from a nordic heritage where the county of my birth (Latvia) has a reference to Father Thunder in the national anthem...and they pray in song for His blessing (you know I wouldn't kid you about something like that - they should fear more the kundalini bolts...[the dolts] :o)

Actually, if this is indeed a reference to Thor, in Nordic mythology...if i remember correctly; He was (is?) the son of the most empathic and human of the gods: Odin.
