"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Yes... we are all one...
No abstraction... no transcendence... just the here and the now...
But then why is it so hard to live that way...
:)
Beautifully said, I need to widen my horizons so to speak. take care.Have a great week.
It isn't hard at all Jon, as long as we satisfy ourselves that microcosmic worlds needn't be utopic.....merely experienced. It seems to me that our individual weakness is lack of that simpler way of handling a situation. Do you realize the potential to extrapolate in any situation requires satisfaction with it as it stands ? Defining satisfaction this way is accepting what we're handed...and....on that basis ideas of how to change it start changing the concept of what it is.....which changes our internal and ultimately external view.
Hi Cyn....Albert Einstein was a rich man when it came to insights....true genius in the original meaning of the word meant "inspired spirit". Thats what you have Cin....it shows in the grace with which you appreciate all that surrounds you, my friend.
Einstein was someone beyond words. I didn't know this quote, but it is brilliant. As he always is.
It would have been great fun to be his neighbor and/or friend...
Como vai?
Estou aqui visitando a tua página e aproveito para te deixar um beijo.

well darlin'.......you just go right ahead and I'll take it and put it in my heart....
I love Einstein...love this quote as it is what I think so much of us miss in our everyday runnings here and there like little ants.
I am frequently having to sit myself down and breathe and remind myself of just what he spoke of here..being part of the whole in a beautiful way. I think as humans "we" can be arrogant sometimes and it keeps us from "lowering ourselves" to the level of other creatures. How sad is that...they have so very much to offer in wisdom and beauty! I think there is so very much out there that we have missed in our fellow creatures..amazing things..we just have to look closer and be open to the wonder!
Thank you for popping by my Quilting Bee hon...yup ya pegged me again...forgiving myself can be a challenge at times. Letting old tapes wash over me..like the house thing..lots of old tapes there! I have a much easier time forgiving others and sometimes just plain forget to even consider that I need to do so for myself. It is very freeing to forgive yourself! Taking the lesson of any situation and leaving the rest!! Hmm am thinking fodder for the next Bee! Not to mention fodder for my journal!
Hugs to you hon, Sarah
and as we build temples in our hearts....so must they eventually be torn down.....for all temples are but false idols too....
Yep Yep! Yep!
Here Here Here !!! :-)
I am laughing and smiling can you hear me?
I was just passing this as I posted the lyrics to BDG..talking with Andi....and spirit said go back..
ah yes so you did hear me lol I am getting my technique in tune at last ~smiles~
